Yes, Instagram's API only works with Instagram Business or Creator accounts. Personal accounts cannot be connected. Converting to a Business account is free and takes about two minutes in the Instagram app, under Settings → Account type and tools, and it does not change how your profile looks. You do not need a Facebook Page, a Facebook app or a Meta developer account — Feedframer connects through Instagram's own login.

Authentication is simple - just append your API key as a query parameter: ?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY. You can find your API key in your account settings. Each user has one permanent API token that you can regenerate at any time.

Yes! Our API supports comprehensive filtering including type (IMAGE, VIDEO, CAROUSEL_ALBUM, REELS), account (username), and date ranges (publishedAfter, publishedBefore). You can also sort by published date or ID.

Free tier accounts update daily. Premium accounts update every hour. You can also manually trigger a refresh from your dashboard at any time. We automatically fetch your latest posts in the background.

You can access all your Instagram posts including images, videos, carousels, and reels. Each post includes caption, media URLs, permalink, published date, and more. We also provide account profile data including bio, follower counts, and profile picture.

Free tier: up to 6 posts per account. Premium tier: up to 100 posts per account. Posts are cached for 1 hour for optimal performance. You can retrieve them via paginated API requests with customizable page sizes (12, 25, 50, 100).

When you disconnect an Instagram account, we retain your posts for 30 days in case you want to reconnect. After 30 days, all associated posts are permanently deleted. You can reconnect the same account at any time.

Free tier supports 1 Instagram account. Premium tier ($6/month) supports up to 5 accounts, making it perfect for agencies managing multiple clients or businesses with multiple brand accounts.

Feedframer refreshes your Instagram token automatically, so a 60-day expiry is rarely the reason. In our own data on 4 October 2026, 42 of 43 broken connections died before their expiry date. The usual causes are on the Instagram side and no refresh can prevent them: the account owner changed their Instagram password, the app was removed under Instagram's Apps and Websites settings, or Instagram is holding the account behind a security checkpoint. We email you when a connection breaks, and your dashboard flags the account as needing a reconnect. The first two causes are fixed by reconnecting. For a checkpoint you have to log in at instagram.com and clear the prompt first, because reconnecting will fail until you do.

Yes, you can cancel your Premium subscription at any time. You'll continue to have Premium access until the end of your current billing period, then your account will automatically downgrade to the free tier.

Each connected Instagram account gets an RSS feed URL. Simply copy your RSS feed URL from your dashboard and paste it into your email platform's RSS-to-Email campaign settings. We support Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, ConvertKit, and any platform that accepts RSS feeds.

Feedframer works with all major email platforms including Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, and any other platform that supports RSS-to-Email campaigns.

Each connected account is fetched once per tier interval — every 24 hours on Free, every hour on Premium — so a new post reaches the RSS feed within that window rather than instantly. In practice Premium feeds pick up a new post 30 to 60 minutes after publishing. Your email platform then controls how often it checks the feed, which usually adds more delay than we do.

Yes. The API is served behind Cloudflare's CDN with 1-hour response caching, and we refresh Instagram tokens automatically. One thing to design for: Instagram connections can break for reasons outside our control — a password change on the account, or the owner removing the app in Instagram settings. When that happens the API keeps serving the posts we already have, so your site does not error, but the feed stops gaining new posts until the account is reconnected. We email you the moment it happens. If you want to surface staleness in your own UI, GET /api/v1/accounts returns a status and lastFetchAt for every connected account.
